When we have children we are not given a handbook on what is best, we are not given the blue print for giving
them what they need or what they should experience when and how, we are left to get on with it, armed only
with the advice of those around us we trust.

When it comes to education we give our trust to the schools, again hoping our child is receiving exactly what
he or she requires, when they require it and delivered in the way best suited to their way of learning.

For the most part this works well but what happens when we want our child to do something which is not on the
syllabus? Like learning to trampoline, play in the local football team or ride a horse; we go to a specialist
unless we feel we can do it safely ourselves. But do you want to be the teacher and blur the edges in our
child’s mind? Place them in that awkward situation of being scared to fail because if they did they would be
failing their mum or dad? Wouldn’t we rather remain their parents ready to praise their success and support
their downs, telling them how proud we are of them and telling our friends how well they are doing? Looking
into their up turned faces and seeing the pride develop and the individuality expand.
